Thought he was fine tonight

I’d rather he make mistakes and bring elite offense instead of becoming another Mark Pysyk.

Just be a 4th forward, especially when we have no damn offense

Forget Dahlin...

Anybody look at Power recently? Already eclipsed last seasons totals and not even 40% into the season. This guy is a force already and he will be a massive impact when he joins the Sabres. Hopefully you play him for a few games to close out the season without burning a precious year of the ELC

He’s on a loaded team of course his points are up…. He can spend some time in the ahl too…. Stop playing these kids too soon in the nhl.

Why burn a year off his ELC in the AHL. It's not often that a 1st overall goes back to NCAA, and I agree with the Sabres decision regarding this, but the AHL will do him no favours. Play the kid for his 10 games in the NHL at the end of the season to give him a fair look at what he needs to adjust too, and keep all 3 years still under raps. This "kid" is 6'6" and currently 225lbs, and is fully ready to make the jump at seasons end.

I think it's like QB's in the NFL these days... As long as he is a high pick and he seems ready for the NHL, you keep him up. The AHL is a rough game of failed NHL'ers and head-hunting goons. You have to make a decision - Will the kid benefit from playing against grown men in a deceptively tough league (AHL) to play in, thus toughening him up and letting his body grow - or - Do you keep him in the NHL because his body is ready for the most part and he just needs to learn the speed and grind of the game for a year or two.

I say bravo for sending Quinn down to Rochester and seeing that his development was better down there, and a hip-hip-hooray for keeping Cozens up in the NHL to let him get the pro-experience in a season that has no expectations.

In hindsight, I think they made the wrong move with Girgensons. They sent him to the AHL his first season after drafting him high, and he got (frank)ing absolutely nuked by Richard Panik. Here's the hit, 25 second mark along the far wall near the left bench.

https://www.youtube.com/w...&ab_channel=boltprospects

Girgensons wasn't right after that hit. He was out for a while, iirc, and aside from the flashes he showed his first seasons under Nolan, he fell completely off the map. Lingering, undiagnosed post-concussion symptoms are an actual thing, and every player is effected differently.

Anyway, Power is a monster. He should be in the NHL full-time next season unless he wants to do another year or finish out at Michigan, as Gerbe has hinted. The AHL serves him absolutely no purpose.

Now, Dahlin, on the other hand... I'm starting to think he might have been better off playing in the A for a season or two...

Coach's first big test of the season. This was a vintage Sabres stinker. This has to end here. Donnie needs to rally the troops.

A fresh infusion of three dominant players from Rochester and a goalie prospect to give DT a blow would really be useful this coming busy week.

Dahlin needs to sit in the press box for a game or two. He is not an "elite" anything and most likely, never will be as he is a scared 20 year old playing to not get crushed...Can we wait the 3-4 years for him to physically develop? Yes, but not at over 20 minutes a game and with partners who do not compliment his style. Season is a loss anyway, but hate to see him beat down anymore and we need him for the long haul.

Dahlin will need to be moved, the Sabres failed his development. He needs a spark plug, this organization doesn’t have it for him.

Good post.

Wait for the "he's only 21" crowd.

Same crowd that didnt recognize josh allen as a talented NFL qb until week 8 last season.....

4th season for dahlin, more indicative than age IMO

First year nerves and mistakes in year 4
